D.R. Congo Green Coffee Beans

Coffee cultivation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) tells a story of resilience and untapped potential. Along the Great Rift Valley, fertile volcanic soils, high altitudes (1,400–2,000 masl) and a temperate climate create ideal conditions for exceptional Arabica.

Most coffee grows in Kivu and Ituri, where smallholder farmers cultivate traditional Bourbon and Typica varieties. After years of challenges, cooperatives and NGOs are driving a quiet revival focused on quality and traceability.

D.R. Congo coffees are known for floral aromas, juicy berry notes and vibrant acidity, often compared to Rwanda and Burundi. Improved washed, honey and natural processing methods have raised cup quality, placing Congolese coffee firmly on the global specialty stage.
