Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Adado G1 is a fully washed speciality coffee from the Adado area of Yirgacheffe. It’s built from smallholder coffees delivered to Adado Washing Station, and it’s graded GR1 with a bright, perfume-like cup profile.
Adado is within the wider Yirgacheffe region, an area known for fragrant aromatics and tea-like structure. The combination of high altitude growing and careful washing-station processing tends to produce coffees that feel elegant, lifted and very clean on the finish.
This lot comes from 400+ farmers delivering cherry to Adado Washing Station. Lots like this are often about community scale with tight quality control at processing, rather than a single farm story.
The coffee is grown between around 1,795 and 2,150 metres above sea level. That elevation range supports slower cherry development, which can help build floral aromatics and crisp acidity while keeping the cup refined.
It’s listed as a mix of JARC varieties and local landraces. In Ethiopia, that often means a diverse genetic mix, which is one reason coffees from regions like Yirgacheffe can show such layered aromatics.
GR1 is a top grade in the Ethiopian system, referring to strong physical quality with very low defect tolerance. It’s a grading indicator that typically aligns with cleaner, more precise cups when roasting and brewing.
It’s fully washed, meaning the cherry is pulped, fermented to remove mucilage, then washed and dried. Washed processing tends to sharpen clarity and definition, which suits flavour notes like black tea, bergamot and jasmine.
The cupping notes are black tea, bergamot and jasmine. Expect a tea-like base, a lifted citrus-floral aroma, and a clean, refined finish that feels bright rather than heavy.
A score of 88.5 signals a very high-quality speciality coffee with standout character and clarity. It’s the kind of lot that’s often chosen for single-origin offerings where aromatics and definition matter.
This style is ideal for filter brewing when you want florals and sparkle, especially V60, Kalita, AeroPress or batch brew. It can also make a delicate espresso with a tea-like aromatic top note if you enjoy lighter, more expressive shots.
Store green coffee in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and strong odours, ideally sealed in the original bag or a food-safe airtight container. Roasted coffee is best kept at room temperature in an airtight bag or tin and used within a sensible time frame to keep the bergamot and jasmine notes vivid.
