Ethiopia Banko Gotiti Washed 2025
Ethiopia Banko Gotiti Washed 2025 is a refined washed coffee from one of Yirgacheffe’s most respected washing stations, ideal for drinkers who enjoy clarity, floral lift, and elegant sweetness in the cup. Sourced from smallholder farmers delivering cherries to the Banko Gotiti washing station, this coffee represents the classic washed Ethiopian style.
What “Banko Gotiti Washed” actually means (and why it matters)
“Banko Gotiti” refers to the washing station located in the village of Banko Gotiti in the Kochere area of southern Ethiopia. Hundreds of local smallholder farmers harvest ripe cherries from small garden plots and deliver them to the station, where quality control and processing are carefully managed.
“Washed” describes the processing method in which cherries are depulped, fermented, fully washed, and then dried. This approach enhances clarity, brightness, and definition in the cup, allowing delicate aromatics and origin character to shine.
Taste & character in the cup
Expect a clean, medium bodied cup with bright but refined acidity. Flavour notes typically lean toward jasmine and citrus blossom, supported by sweet stone fruit and subtle tropical tones. The finish is elegant and lingering, with floral aromatics carrying through the cup.
This profile makes it especially well suited to filter brewing and lighter roast styles, where clarity and complexity are key.
Processing & growing conditions
Ripe cherries are delivered daily during harvest, sorted, depulped, fermented, washed, and then dried slowly on raised beds. Regular turning and careful drying help preserve quality and aromatic complexity.
The coffee is grown at high altitude, which slows cherry development and contributes to refined acidity, sweetness, and aromatic depth.
